Hey gang,

Was wondering if anyone out there - either alone or part of a video-ripping collective - would like to do us a truly massive favour and post the rest of the DVD goodies on YouTube?

Right now there are scant bits from the first disc, as well as a couple of chapters floating around on sites like Dailymotion.com and Revver...

But after watching the entirety of Justice League Unlimited on the 'Tube the other weekend, I realized that this really is an excellent way to the keep the series feeling 'vital' (and for folks 'n' fans to share through their blogs and social spaces!!!).

So yeah...any charitable/capable takers? There be TREATS in it for you, for certain!

Holiday Xs and Os

B

I would, I really would, but right now, two of my friends have my two copies. I might just eventually pick up a third copy, but money is short

Can't do it for various reasons including a broken DVD burner. However, for clarification, what exactly do you want put on YouTube? Chapters? Extras? Everything?

The entire Justice League is on YouTube?

(Sorry to derail the thread.)

I have my wonderful copy, but I'm piss poor at this kind of stuff. If someone could tell me the essentials and how-tos of getting stuff off DVDs, I'd gladly do it.

The challenge is the time limit on clips - I stopped posting because our acts often ran over (I think it's a 10min cap?), and didn't have the tech chops to slice things up into bite-sized chunks that made sense.

That said, most acts are divided into obvious 'scenes', and could be posted that way - just think...there are 57 Acts to BS...and many of the later acts could need to be parsed into smaller scenes...so jeez...that's probably over 75 pieces to share with the Tubers!

It's also a matter of what technology I use and how I should do it. I can definitely bend to the daunting task of so many chapters. If someone like atarumyth took the time and effort to put all these favorite classic old movies of mine on Youtube, I can do this.

Well, I've had the set sitting around to do such a thing since John asked about posting Broken Legos on YouTube.
I had a recent harddrive crash that took with it my ripping software. (Which is how we did the update for the DVD in the first place.) I'm working on getting the essentials back. It shouldn't be too hard once I do that.

The original version is cool too...though it'll be strange to the old Chapter 13 again

I have no way to rip them. Otherwise I'd try to squeeze that in.

On the other hand, I do still have all the originals...

Aye! Here's the rub!

I have the technical know-how and tools to be able to do it, but I don't have a ton of time right now to go though and find good edit points that won't screw with the narrative.

If anyone wants to go through and give me the times (minutes:seconds into the episode) when it would be a good time to cut each section, I can just plug in those times and automate the whole process. If not, you'll have to wait until I have some time to go through and choose some edit points

[edit]Oh, and if you do provide me with edit times, please also specify if you're using the original DVD or the new Fox ones. I'm assuming the Fox ones are preferred, but I know you don't all have those.[/edit]

Wait a sec. Can't you just become a "director", and then you don't have to deal with the 10min limit?

Go here and follow the instructions, which are:

- Log in and go to "Channel Settings > Channel Info"
- Scroll down and click "Change channel type"
- Select "Director" from the drop-down menu
- Click "Update Channel"

I believe it's free, it's just that they don't give it to you by default. You might have to wait a bit for it to activate too.

[edit]
More Info on the director program:

"And the best benefit of all? The YouTube Director program is completely, 100% FREE. The only thing we ask? That you be a legitimate, original content creator. Remember, this is just the first release of the YouTube Director program! It's our goal to provide tools and functionality to help you, the best content providers on YouTube, achieve maximum distribution. And in the middle of the night if a sudden idea or suggestion comes to you on how YouTube can improve the features we offer for our Directors, please get out of bed and contact us. So, go apply to become a Director and start creating your next masterpiece! We can't wait to see what you come up with."
