Today is 12/21/2005. Four years ago, it was 12/21/2001. On this day, gigantic glowing eyeballs did not appear in the sky; politicians, pontiffs and . . . uh . . . paratroopers did not collapse in pain; and we did not feel God awaken our slumbering soul.

I was sorely disappointed. This is the four-year anniversary of that disappointment.

I'm sorry, but despite blogly approval, I just don't believe it's sufficiently symmetrical. It would have to be 12/21/2112. Sadly, I don't think we'll live that long.

I was disapointed before that. Back in 1999 there was supposed to be a giant hedgehog that roseth from the ground and decimated the planet's surface. But that, obviously, never came about.

Stupid foretellings...

Actually, I belive that did happen, but due to the hedgehog's relatively average size and speed, it could only decimate about 4.2 square feet of the planet's surface before being run over by a reindeer.

Crono and Magus did their job and all is well.

Until Square decided to mess up the storyline with CC.

Oh, you meant that hedgehog. The hedgehog with a beak. See, you had me lost without that little piece of information.

But then, on Oct. 1, 1997, there was supposed to be a war that engulfed the world, an axial shift of the Earth, and a titanic flood of mutated animals. That never materialized, either.

Looks like the Eyeball and the hedgehog weren't the doomsday scenarios we had to watch out for.

Damn you James Cameron.

I have not wanted to strangle a spambot quite as much as I do right now. For those who did not see the TWO spam posts that resurrected this thread: the first one stole text wholesale from here, while the second stole from here AND interrupted itself to advertise. I see the theme of the posts. I don't see the reason.

And is there anyone who recognized my 1997 reference in this thread?

...I suppose I should feel flattered that the spam quoted me twice in two different threads. It was kinda funny reading the other tread first, then discovering in this one that what was said in the other one had been said by me 5 years ago.

Getting back to this . . . no, not necessarily, depending on which part of this thread you are referencing. To start off, I was just talking about Broken Saints. Most people survived that one, and I was merely expressing disappointment that this event did not occur in our timeline.

Now, any attitude I may have towards destruction on a global scale is another issue entirely, and I clearly do not discuss details of it (e.g., coordinates, launch codes) in public.
