Forget glueing your head to a girder or slicing and dicing with a ginsu. I'm talking comic books here, people.

This is a brief opinion poll. The opinion part means that, of course, you are free to comment as you see fit. Seriously, I require pros and cons. So, the issue at hand:

Would you pay $8 for a comic book?

One thing to keep in mind whilst considering this decision is that the eight greenbacks includes the packing and shipping costs. Plus the $4 cover price (which is under cost, incidently).

So yes or no? And why.

No fuckin' way. A standard ad-crammed 22 pager lasts me at most 20 minutes, and now all of them are getting delayed (Marvel-side) due to a lazy artist who bit off more than he can chew. 8x6 =$48. You get at least 6 issues in a trade paperback for under $30 at all times.

It depends on if I could find the comic book at a store or not. However, that's assuming I read comic books...I do read manga though, and I typically pay $8-$10 for that, but they are significantly longer.

The quality, while stylistic, is...very sketchy for $8 a book.

Not for me, thanks.

That's your comic book, isn't it? Sure, I'd pay eight dollars for that. I've liked all the preview material I've seen so far and, given the context (i.e., Evil Sponge), I'm assured of quality. Yes, I just said something positive towards the Evil Sponge. Try not to burst into flames.

It's just that, unfortunately, I won't pay said dollars, for I am insanely busy. And heading to Russia.

Oh, and:

Yeah I would pay $8 for it. More than I would usually pay, but it seems reasonable to support Evil Sponge.

Mmm...divided camp...sweet sustenance...

Um, yeah, anywho. Notes on the book:

- 32 pages (and it's an indie print, so there's no ads amongst those 32)
- Very heavyweight paper with a touch of gloss
- Not your standard story
- Not you standard introduction to a serialized thing

You can find this in a store...sort of. We've got it in three shops in the cental PA area. So if you live close enough you can just pop in to one of those and pick one up for the cover price. On the other hand, if you live that close you can skip the middle man and just come to my house and pick one up

I dunno man. I buy a lot of comics and it really depends. It's 32 pages, which is a plus, but I've seen lots of 32 page comics go for about $3. I geuss it would really have to depend on the story. Here in Canada face value of a standard comic is $4 anyway, so shipping and handle costs considered it's not a terrible price.

It really just depends on the story, but it seems worth it.

By the way, I can't stand the price difference on books in the US and Canada. Just looking at a book right next to me right now $14.95 American, $22.95 Canadian?! What the hell is that anyway?! This isn't the frickin' forties! The exchange rate is at 9% people!

God. I'm taking this to the rant forum!
