I'm guessing there's this guy named Bob, who trips and falls into the ocean to find himself on a deserted island with seven shores and he names each of them accordingly: First, Second, Boobs, Fourth, The Tiki Side, Sixth, and Seventh ooohooOOoOoOoOoooo..... and the Seventh Shore is where he hangs his hat.. if he had a wall with some hooks to hang that fancy hat. Cheerie-o!

Of course there's a wall. He had to build one, you see. There were several tribes of pygmies, as well as one or two aboriginal groups, already living and warring on the island. In order to bring about peace, he was forced to build a series of walls separating the shores and the tribes. Yet there are doorways open to his shore, the Seventh Shore, where all can go to talk of, and hopefully one day live in, peace.

A tenuous peace is just achieved when a young pygmy named Utar from the Igwana tribe questions why an outsider should be the keeper of the Seventh Shore. Bob must then utilise his hitherto unknown powers to vanquish hatred and doubt and bring peace back to all of the shores.

by reading mooshies post i think her and i saw the same movie last night, with that: "Wilson!"
---

what makes the seventh significant... why is he chosen as the outsider to be the peacemaker.... what problems does this raise... when the environment changes when said walls are built... like for crops, animal migration... how does this impact the cultures of the divided nations?

Ah, I would hypothesize that the number seven, given the context of a Broken Saints videogame continuing development in the background, represents a metaphoric connection between this new project and Kirby Canvas Curse for the Nintendo DS. See, each level is named after one of the colors in the rainbow--or, at least, the freaky-weird rainbow that Isaac Newton divided, sticking generations and generations of elementary school children with the task of convincing themselves they see indigo in between blue and violet. Obviously, this conflict will be too much one day, hence the main impetus for the plotline Brooke is creating.

Fox McCloud and Jigglypuff will both have cameo appearances by chapter five.

yay for cameo's... so what homages would everyone love to have in the next project... I would like a "washroom" homage. Hilarity.

Just the important ones for now.
Newsletter wrote:

1)ALL the original BS creators – Andrew, Ian, Brooke, and Tobias – will return to contribute in ways both familiar and strange.

3)It will not be known as an ‘ANIMATED’ project…but animation will be a PART of it.

4) Primary production will take place throughout 2007, with the total number of participants likely to SURPASS 100.

8)The WEB will again be its birthplace…but it will not be obvious as to ‘what’, ‘where’, ‘how’, or ‘why’…at least initially.

9)When pressured to classify it into a traditional artistic/narrative ‘genre’,
another NEW fusion of terms – like ‘cinematic literature’ – is required.

10)The project’s working title IS floating around in several places online…but NOT for long.

1 and 3 are signifigant if we want to look at style. They might still use flash or a similar program, but since it's not going to be officially animated, they might use real shots and video clips, maybe 'stylized' by Andrew. Also, PART, meaning that there will me many different aspects to the new 'project'. Consider also the choice of the word 'project'. It doesn't necessarily suggest a single entity or work, but rather a group of similar, linked entities or works. If it were going to be exactly like BS, wouldn't they call it a 'series'?

#4, Word choice again, "participants". Words not used: "creators" "characters." Maybe suggesting a larger community in which to produce.

#8. Ok, so they don't want to make the series obvious to start with. Why? Maybe something like the Hanso game for Lost? They were talking about the immersiveness and exclusiveness of BS sitting in front of your computer with headphones on. Maybe they are trying to get a more immersive experience by having the viewer, or participant, find out pieces on their own, and uncovering the mystery themselves or cooperating with others. (personally, I think that would be amazing)

#9 shows a combination of 1, 3, and 8

#10 shows the title is important, and they don't want people to know it. Again, why?

I still think Bob goes crazy and uses coconut shells as a bra, dancing to the tune of "I'm too sexy"..

do you think it will be similar to recent linklater films with rotoscoping or jumping on the comic book/ motion picture trend like richard kelly is currently on for southland tales.... hmm...

The Internet as a medium differs fromTV or movies in that there is near boundless potential for interactivity, as far as digital i/o goes. We might expect something in the way of a movement, moreso than a work of literature - at least in places.

www.brokensaints.com/blog

In this QUICK HITS edition of the Saintly Scribe (now with 30% less
‘Sellout’!!!):

CALLING ALL ITALIAN SAINTS: Brooke to appear at the ROMICS show in
Rome – THIS WEEK!!! www.romics.it

Friends of BS in this beautiful corner of the globe are invited to
raise a glass of vino and scarf a gelato cone with B in downtown Rome
between October 5th and 10th - his appearance schedule is pretty light for
the convention, and this is his first time on Roman soil, so saintly
tour guides are more than welcome! Just drop him a line - brooke AT
brokensaints.com - and, if his computer doesn't explode from the voltage
conversion, you can make it happen. Ciao!!!

LAUNCH ROUND-UP: BS makes waves in US/CAN, UK, Australia/NZ, Germany,
France…with more to come!!!

The FOX f(r)iends have been keeping us abreast of launch developments
in every territory - looks like BS is doing nicely in North America, and
slowly but surely taking hold across Europe. It kinda sucked that
their entire promotional office was on HOLIDAY when we hit shelves in the
UK (which might explain the initially disappointing #s), but we're
hopeful that strong reviews and word-of-mouth will keep us high on holiday
wish lists (after the Wii, but of course!)

We should be getting the 'official' word on launch dates in Mexico,
Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Northern Europe any day now, so be sure to
stay tuned (or do an Amazon search) for the latest poop. That said, we
were personally howling when we got wind of peeps
snagging...uhh...UNofficial copies in places like Costa Rica, Hong Kong, the Cook Islands,
and Eastern Europe. Don't sweat it, gang - the damn thing was FREE in
the first place (hell...keep those YouTube uploads coming, as far as
we're concerned!) - just keep spreading the good word and opening hearts
'n' minds worldwide!!!

Fan-fav’ FALLEN ANGEL hosts saintly screening @ MIKOMICON in less than
two weeks!!! (www.mikomicon.com)

After all she's done for us, this saint just keeps on giving - Soo's
committed to hosting a 2HR block on the afternoon of Sat OCT 14th at the
newly remodeled University Student Union at California State University
Northridge (just scope the site for directions if you're a Valley
kid!). Expect some special chapter screenings, personal stories surrounding
the saga, and maybe even a surprise or two. And if you want to get in
touch with FA directly for the straight skinny, just hop over to this
blog post for her MySpace contact info:
http://brokensaints.com/blog/?p=460

As for those out of her reach? Please (and we get asked this a
LOT)...you are MORE THAN WELCOME to arrange series screenings, start
discussion groups, create your own BS-inspired school art/computer/written
projects, or even just share the series with your local anime club, film
circle, or library. Seriously gang...Broken Saints - as we've always
trumpeted from our snazzy electric soapbox - belongs as much to YOU as it
does to anyone. Don't be shy!

We still receive mails EVERY day on how the work has inspired others to
think, or to create, or to finally get passionate about political
and/or spiritual issues. With the DVD 'out there' in the big, bad world
now...well, folks just seem to be taking the whole thing a bit more
seriously. The dream has not stopped unfolding, dear friends...so feel
free to fashion your own 'origami' corner if you think it can awaken
another soul in YOUR world. That's what its for!!!

AT LAST: 10 Truths/Hints/Teases/Secrets to Get You Silly-STOKED
about…the "NEXT PROJECT"!!!

1) ALL the original BS creators – Andrew, Ian, Brooke, and Tobias –
will return to contribute in ways both familiar and strange.
2) At least one of the DVD voice talents – as well as one of the
CREATORS – will have a ‘performance’ role.
3) It will not be known as an ‘ANIMATED’ project…but animation will be
a PART of it.
4) Primary production will take place throughout 2007, with the total
number of participants likely to SURPASS 100.
5) The cost for the entire 16-hours of BS DVD content was $500000 - the
new project’s budget is 7-FIGURES..for the sake of comparison.
6) There will be regular ‘hints’ – both written and
artistic/photographic – posted on the BS blog over the next several MONTHS.
7) There will be at least TWO important nods to Broken Saints – hidden
artistically, musically, or through dialogue – within the work.
The WEB will again be its birthplace…but it will not be obvious as
to ‘what’, ‘where’, ‘how’, or ‘why’…at least initially.
9) When pressured to classify it into a traditional artistic/narrative
‘genre’, another NEW fusion of terms – like ‘cinematic literature’ – is
required.
10) The project’s working title IS floating around in several places
online…but NOT for long.

All for now, kidlets. Kinda hard to top the above...

Warmth, respect, and appreciation from our little fleck on the swirling
mass of cyber space - the love continues to grow!!!

WORD IS BOND

THE BS CREW

Ghost of Shandala, like the ghost of Banquo in MacBeth at a tribal feast on the seventh shore.
