The original article I read about this mentioned how the ridge Putin is claiming connects Russia to the pole is a fault line from tectonic plates which runs all the way to Canada. So the Canadians can make the same claim to ownership using Putin’s logic and by extension claim ownership over all of Eurasia…
I think exxon mobil deserves some credit here. What with all their hiring of merc armies, buying off politicians, helping to support dictatorships and ramming oil freighters into a rock.

This would have made for a silly plot development in a Roger Moore era Bond film.
Maybe MGM can finally use that “Beyond The Ice” title that’s been popping up for the last ten years.
