An Anonymous Message to Scientology…

Even mainstream news is covering this apparent ‘campaign’ by a group of hacker/insiders planning to bring Hubbard’s cult down. Expect more wacky Tom Cruise videos to follow… 😀

Nice to see Anonymous using their massive numbers and sticktoitiveness for good this time. They’re planning not-retarded protesting in memory of an Ex-Sci who was confined to a closet and died, and have leaked assorted documents from Scientology onto the net en masse. Good stuff.

Like it’s been said; Internet anonymity is a powerful tool.
The funny thing is there’s gonna be a few different groups at play during these little events; we’ll have the blow-hard internet pranksters who think that by posting a few rude comments on Scientology that they’re the head honchos in taking them down, but quietly in the backdrop we’ll see the real players at work giving those guys what they’ve had coming. Raimi Mathews style! 🙂

Scientologists so give me the creeps!

  5. Kevin says:

Good riddance. It’s about time those morons faced what they have coming to them.

    Yay religious persecution?

  7. neelo says:

Religion persecutes men us, but cults overtly destroy us. Maybe there is a unifying creative force, and people through religion can source it, but the devil is in the detail. To quote the brilliant Bill Hicks; “No middle men required”.

  8. Saggio l'uno says:

I dislike most religions as much as the next guy, but surely there are more effective methods for dealing with unreasonable idiots than harassment and intimidation?

Such things aren’t generally considered acceptable behavior in any civil society.

  9. neelo says:

I hear what your saying however the Scientologists have employed the very methods you describe to prey on the vulnerable and the broken. Meanwhile the head honchos in the vatican tell us that condoms have holes in them through which HIV can pass. I would suggest that such lies are also not acceptable behavior in a civil society. I just don’t know, what is one to do?

ITT. A bunch of people that don’t realize we’re just doing this for the lulz.

  11. dumbwhiteguy says:

In related news put “dangerous cult” into and hit I’m feeling lucky.

    Huzzah for google bombing.

  12. dumbwhiteguy says:

    *into google

Although you should be able to figure that out yourself.

The actions of the Vatican and just about every other religious organization at one time or another have been reprehensible. I don’t deny it, and to be honest, I get quite angry thinking about the Vatican’s policy on contraception given the reality of the AIDS epidemic in Africa. It’s fucking disgusting.

But bombarding Catholic websites with DDoS attacks, or trying to vandalize their properties, or attempting to inflict any sort of violence, physical or otherwise, on the Vatican won’t make them change their policy. All it will do is make them circle the wagons and put all the believers on the defensive, which will only result in more deferential attitudes to those in charge.

The same thing is going to happen in Scientology, and it’s a damn shame because the whole operation is a fucking sham. What these fellows seem to be proposing comes off as utterly immature and antithetical to the principles and ideals our society generally holds as important. It’s only going to hurt the legitimate resistance (intellectual and otherwise) to Scientology, and allow the leaders to increase the level of coercion and control their exercise over their members.

  14. neelo says:

    I hear you. Makes sense.

  15. rainstillfalling says:

it seems to me like it’s evolved past the immature bombarding. Its become more sophiscated.

well… as sophisticated as soulless greasy teenagers can get.

and just for the record, as retarded as their methods can be, the protest thats going down on feb 10th makes me so happy that there is still some of those damn teenagers out there that give a crap in this day and age.

Anyone going to go protest on feb 10th?
