The boys would post more here…

April 22nd, 2006

…but, unlike me, they seem to have a life 😉

Sure, it’s a shot from a couple of months back…but I still wanted to post something of the laddybucks in action. Art and music may be ruling Drew’s life as of late, and Ian’s workaholism puts the rest of us wannabe CEOs to shame, but give them both a little fresh snowfall (and copious amounts of local brew) and the oldschool saints show their true colors 🙂

Miss ya, boyz – can’t wait ’til COMICON!!!

Swag Season’s in Swing…

April 20th, 2006

IT’S NO SIN – PUT ME NEAR YOUR SKIN!!!

With Sci-Fi London days away, E3 only a few weeks off, and the one-two punch of Wizard World and Comicon looming large in the chronological distance, it seemed natural to nudge ya’ with a wee reminder – please pimp us in style if you’re gonna be in attendance!

We’ll have spies on the lookout for saintly supporters at all the major shows this summer, and you just never know when love and loyalty will yield a fine bounty unexpected treats. And unless you plan on sporting full Shinto regalia, the next best thing might well be a fetching shirt or button.

Listen peeps…we’d sooner hump the underside of a lawnmower than do the hardsell, but if you’ve got a few spare bucks and the BS-vibe in your heart, then we’d be honored to cloth and adorn you (swaddle, even) in our swanky symbology!

Get that kid a haircut!!!

If you click on the pic to the right, it’ll take you to a mid-res scan of a Vancouver Sun business feature I did about ten days ago – squint hard and you can maybe get a wafting of official poop-scent regarding the surprising bedfellow who’s helping to take Saints worldwide. Bitches!

Careful, though…my expression in that snap could be exposing a long-hidden desire to feast on the bones of wayward children. Then again, it could be worse.

Any gamers still reading? (I wouldn’t dare overestimate your attention spans without something hard and vibrating in your hands, pallies :P) Good…’cause this link will take you to an extremely meaty exclusive chat with UK Nintendo news site CUBED3. It’s long, challenging, moderately insightful…and you might need this to get through it.

Kinda like BS.

Pre-Easter chocolate smooches…and a special thanks to oldschool saint JESUSRAZ for the opportunity to spout off wildly on his gaming soapbox!

First Revolution Screens?!?!

April 9th, 2006

THE REVOLUTION BEGINS!

(FROM N-SIDER.COM)

“This world-exclusive (as it so aptly called on the Game Informer mag’s cover) touches on various aspects of the story and control style, such as tilting the angle of in-game weapons via real-world actions in 3D space. From the article:

While we didn’t get to play through a full level populated with enemies, we did try to complete the shooting range challenges as quickly as possible to put the team’s claim about controller speed and accuracy to the test. Unlike most console games, we found Red Steel more enjoyable to play while standing up — with the controller’s movement-tracking abilities, we felt more natural playing while standing. The longer we played with it, the more natural it felt, and the more quickly we mowed down the targets.

It seems Game Informer’s initial impressions of the title, control-wise, relate closely to a mouse and keyboard setup, as was expected. For those who expressed concerns regarding the ability to straffe in FPS games following the controller’s unveiling at TGS 2005, the next bit of this article may be of interest to you:

Straffing around a target is incredibly easy, as keeping the controller pointed at an object while moving with the analog stick keeps you focused on your target.

The article goes on to list other areas of control unlike any other explored in the console world, to date. This includes throwing grenades using both over-hand and under-hand motions — players simply act as if they’re physically throwing a ball — or pushing objects over by moving the controller forward (towards the screen).

Red Steel is being developed by Ubisoft Paris, who are known for such block-busters as Prince of Persia, Ghost Recon, Far Cry Instincts, and Splinter Cell.”

The Battle for America…

April 9th, 2006

Al Gore said last year that his fledgling channel – CURRENT – would strike a more creative chord in its coverage of and reaction to American events, as viewers themselves were encouraged to submit content. This was my first official taste…and I’m almost encouraged.
