    New RUE MORGUE hits stands!

  • The highbrow Canuck horror and genre mag Rue Morgue proudly presents their 8th Anniversary Halloween double issue. This is the big 50th mag milestone for our pals back East, featuring not only a plump review of the Broken Saints DVD, but also a cover story on one of the most important literary masters in the history of horror:

“During his short and troubled life, author H.P. Lovecraft shaped the genre perhaps more than any other, and continues to do so decades after his death. This Halloween, Rue Morgue unearths the curious tale of a man whose bizarre narratives are only now being embraced in film, television, and even interactive media….”

  • Storytelling superlatives can’t do the musical exposition, rising action, star-shattering climax, and profound denouement for Sigur Ros‘ live show ANY justice. I’m still trembling. The highlighted new stuff that bookended the show is like GYBE with vocals for criminy’s sake, and the presentation borders on transcendent and otherworldly. Color me INSPIRED. And if you’re a West Coaster, you MIGHT be lucky enough to catch them. Otherwise? More proof that Europeans have alllll the fun :D

    Little Old Lady from Pasadena…

A little haze…a little sunshine…and a nice little excursion to a cool burb in Cali rounds out the weekend itinerary here in Arnold’s territory. Though I always get a bit overwhelmed by excursions in the Excited States of America, this particular trip has been a joy – thanks in no small part to my most marvelous forum rat host, Fallen Angel! Breakfasts of fresh fruit and kiefer, artery slamming lunches at Johnny Rockets, culturally-rich afternoon activites, and a particularly naughty evening’s entertainment combine to make Jack one happy working tourist.

Tomorrow it’s a meeting here and here before heading home. Are those fingers still crossed?

Missing you all bunches and overflowing bunches…

    Overbooked in Oakland…

    Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

I am sitting on a carpeted floor.
I am in a strange little airport.
I am bloated and somewhat gassy.
I am recalling the day’s events.
I am saddened to have no swag.
I am reviewing notes by Konami.
    I am watching airline mechanics.
    I am Jack’s throbbing amygdala.

  • BS Burgers in My Wake Eye
  • Hey gang – heading out to San Francisco at an ungodly hour tomorrow morning (7AM, which means I have to be up at freakin’ four!!!), and I’ll be audi until next Tues. Lots of nifty schtuff brewing, so cross your fingers for this wayward saint, and I’ll do my best to post some live pics from my travels in appreciation. In fact, some of those shots MIGHT offer hints as to goodies that are brewing in the BS universe, so a little clickety click can only lead to quality ‘revelations’ in some form or another.

Always the cryptic boy…and always loving each and every one of you to bite-sized bits. Have a tasty Evil Eye burger – courtesy of the mighty Eggplant – on the House!

  • I’ve been trying like mad to post the details for Tobias’ show, but for some lame reason the image of his flier is getting swallowed by Flickr :( So, I’m using the internationally-ignored rock ‘n’ roll icon Hedwig to let folks know that the T-man has a CD debut TONIGHT in Berlin! If you’re in that finely brewed part of the planet and – time zones in consideration – can make the show, then be sure to drop the BS maestro a line (tobias AT tobiastinker.com). Break a leg, cous’!!!
