IN FLANDERS FIELDS
(By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) – Canadian Army)

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Good Night…and Good Luck

Democrats win control of the House. Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dummer? Let’s hope these particular puppets have string-pullers with a shred of actual humanity.

‘There is a GOD’ Update: Rummy’s history!!!

The Tragically Hip just finished four nights in Vancouver, and have a rockin’ new album!

There are so many pending splits. What are we to do without the stability of our celebrity role models???

Are Chavez’s dreams (as well as some of ours) slowly becoming a reality…?

One of the many reasons we’re happy the ol’ Pledge Drive is a distant memory…

Andrew and I are going to be pointing and swinging Wiimotes like stink in a few weeks. Meanwhile, Ian shall finally shred his way back into the spotlight…and there will be much rejoicing.

Heath Ledger has been reading the Killing Joke. Well duh

A couple of us went within mere miles of Yankee country to enjoy the fine hospitality of Swiss Family Dobson. Kimmie V re-posted Comicon pics so you could enjoy his gorgeous mug and bite-sized offspring (along with some incriminating fright-night goofery).

Some micropenised wank spat the following at us late yesterday:

“You are further fueling my belief that there are too many artists out there, and not enough Mark David Chapmans. Seriously.. did your funding get cut, and all you had left to put on video were the fucking story boards? I really hope you never work again.”

I was alllllmost hurt (and a tad paranoid), until my Warning Alert Narcissism Generator kicked in with the whole Lennon parallel. Awesome!!!

😛

Broken Saints Soundtrack – selections

(posted by tobias)

Hi folks… Some of you may have noticed that several of the soundtrack volumes were offline at CafePress for the last couple of months. Or perhaps no-one did. In any case, in the course of fixing that which needed to be fixed, I thought I would take the opportunity to create a version of the ‘Selected Soundtrack’ which we were giving out promo copies of a while back. Anyone who wanted one but didn’t get one, you can now pick one up in my soundtracks shop... so there ya go. All the hits in one convenient package!

International Manga and Anime Festival seeks Outstanding Contribution nominations…

November 2nd, 2006

Loosely quoted from the BS Forums:

“Not sure if anyone knows or has heard about the IMAF – it stands for International Manga and Anime Festival.

Anyway, it’s an annual festival in London,UK, that celebrates everything Anime and Manga. They also hold a competition with a variety of different catergories. This year, IMAF created a new catergory called “Outstanding Contribution”, which recognizes an individual or group of individuals’ work in the advancement of Manga and Anime.

The website should announce all the nominees this week. Broken Saints was mentioned but if you want to see it win, please visit this thread and show your support!

They want to hear what the nominated group has done to promote/expand/support Manga and Anime (as an art form, for other creators, style, etc). Perhaps you can post about your experience with BS and what it means to you and to the Anime/Manga community.

This would be a great way for fans to spread the good word even further!”

FREE BS ON YOUR PSP, BABY!!!

Since we launched the IPOD versions of the series last Xmas, more than a few of you wrote in mentioning the format similarities between Apple’s thingie and Sony’s thingie, but screamed the virtues of the PSP’s superior screen and WiFi tech. Sure, you suspected that a game might be in development, but was there anything you could download now to spread the saintly gospel with? Essentially, hungry Sony-heads had a single burning query; was there any chance to watch the latest version of BS on this gorgeous gear without having to wait for some overpriced multi-disc UMD set???

Ask and ye’ shall receive, dear friends.

New chapters are scheduled to go live on a weekly basis starting next month, and it sounds like they might pimp our shizz in some fairly high-profile ways. Combined with some recent trumpeting, it’s a nice bit of momentum heading into the Holidays…and another reason to go all gadget-happy in a loved one’s stocking!!! 😀
